We’re delighted to unveil the Roach Sailing Association’s brand‑new website—a single, easy‑to‑navigate home for everything to do with the River Roach, our sailing programme and our social calendar. The site is live, but still evolving, so you may notice updates as we refine the layout and add new features. (It’s my first WordPress build, and the learning curve has been… invigorating!)
How the site is organised
| Blog | A rolling, magazine‑style newsfeed. Expect race briefings, cruising notes, weather & tide updates and member‑written articles—published as soon as they’re ready rather than waiting for a quarterly newsletter. | Live |
| Sailing | A static information hub listing the year’s sailing events in one place, with dates and essential details. | Live (enhancements coming) |
| Social | Your go‑to page for all RSA social gatherings. | Live (enhancements coming |
Planned integrations—Google Calendar, live weather and tidal data—will appear in these pages over the coming months.
Development “Sea‑Chart”
Below is our working roadmap (not strictly chronological). If you have skills or enthusiasm to spare, do jump aboard!
- Open access for full membership (maintenance mode already removed).
- Racing page
- Cruising page
- Social page enhancements
- Google Calendar integration
- Live Weather API – may incur a small cost
- Live Tidal API – may incur a small cost
- Moorings page
- Contact form
- Webcam feed from the dinghy park
A key next step is compiling an official race, cruise and social roster to populate those new pages—any help with schedules or copy is very welcome.
Contribute your photos & files
We’ve set up a dedicated Dropbox “File Request” so members can drag‑and‑drop images, documents and other resources straight to the webmaster—no Dropbox account required:
Uploads will be categorised and backed up locally. To safeguard our growing archive we may upgrade the storage plan in due course.
